How it will work

A fixed basket of published retail prices, re-checked weekly from the same sources at the same cadence. The index publishes only after four clean weekly snapshots are banked — an index with one datapoint is a blog post.

What it will not measure

Wholesale and farm-gate prices, sauce bottle pricing, and regional grocery promotions are out of scope, and the methodology page will say so in the same breath as the numbers.
